Vigilance Committee

What is the Jagratha Samiti?

The Jagratha Samiti is a platform for the protection of children and women that works continuously and vigilantly at the local level to ensure the rights of women and children, ensure their physical, mental and life safety, and prevent violence, rights violations and social taboos against them.

In order to prepare a protection mechanism, the Vigilance Committees will work urgently on issues that require immediate intervention in the area. The committees can work by utilizing the legal protections and mechanisms available to women and children, citing the absence of various committees, and by addressing cases and issues that have been abandoned.

Objectives

  1. Protect the rights of women and children and ensure strong interventions and remedial measures against any violence, discrimination, injustice, exploitation, and denial of rights against them.
  2. Receive any complaint in which women and children are parties and resolve it through emergency interventions or support mechanisms..
  3. Complaints and issues that the Vigilance Committee cannot resolve on its own should be forwarded to the District Vigilance Committee, Women's Commission, other government agencies, and legal aid agencies, and the results should be conveyed to the lower levels through follow-up activities.
  4. Coordinate government-level agencies and projects for the protection of women and girls and various rights. Coordinate the activities of other agencies with the same objective with the Vigilance Committee to make the activities possible.
  5. Implement activities that create a social environment in which there are no problems against women and children in society.
  6. Form various types of associations and utilize popular mechanisms to achieve goals.
  7. Provide community monitoring and support for women and children in situations of abuse.
